Cattlemen’s Congress | Travel Guide

The first month of the year flew by. I started off the year with Next Level Images at Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City. The two week show was packed full of elite cattle and wonderful people. I’m not a cattle kid at heart but sure grew to love the bovines more every day. During the two weeks in OKC, we tried many location restaurants and eateries. Below are some of my favorite spots.

Places to Eat

Trapper’s Fishcamp & Grill Don’t be intimated by the 12 foot Kodiak bear that greets you as you walk in. Trapper’s warm and welcoming atmosphere is sure to impress. Order the prime rib, some call it the best in OKC. Other favorites include their signature mesquite grilled seafood dishes, mesquite grilled steaks, quail and prime pork chops. Also, the restaurant boosts a selection of over 150 bourbons.

Bellini’s Ristorante & Grill If pasta is what you crave a stop to Bellini’s will do the trick. The pasta dishes taste as good as they look. My chicken parmesan was fried to perfection drenched in plenty of sauce and melted cheese. The side of parmesan risotto was extra cheesy and delish.

The Mule A locally owned and operated restaurant and bar serving up a variety of hot melts and cold beer. The Mule offers sandies like the Macaroni Pony, Fancy Pants, and Big Ass Grilled Cheese. If warm comfort food is what the crew desires the Mule is a must stop.

Mahogony Prime The best of the best steak and wine. Mahogany’s steaks are crafted from the finest custom-aged U.S. Prime Midwestern Beef, known for its excellence in marbling, texture and flavor. A restaurant that impresses from your first bite to your last.

Zoes Kitchen Looking for quick and healthy, Zoes Kitchen is a must try. Online ordering and delivery is available for no fuss fresh and filling meal. Zoes offers a variety of soup, salads, sandwiches, and kabobs.

Pie Junkie Everyone loves pie. The Next Level Images team tried almost every pie available by the slice. There wasn’t a bad slice in the bunch. My personal favorites were the Drunken Turtle and PB Chocolate. If you love pie or sweets this is a must stop.

Empire Slice House A couple 20in NY-style whole pies will sure satisfy the hungry and picky eaters of the group. Empire Slice House is located in the fun hip Plaza District and serves up NY-style pies with about any topping imaginable. Either play it safe with an order of garlic knots and a pepperoni pie or be adventurous with a Figgy Stardust and RBG Supreme.

Big Truck Tacos Big Truck Tacos serves Mexican street food with a chef’s twist. The Rancher taco is a fan favorite. The assortment of sauces they offer were spicy and came with tons of flavor. Have adventurous taste buds? A trip to Big Truck Tacos is in order.

Airbnb – The Shepherd House

The Airbnb we stayed at was cozy and welcoming. The hosts left us a variety of local bakery cookies when we arrived. The little gift was very welcoming and made us feel at right home. We were the first guests staying in the whole house They had previously rented out one room. The Shepherd House was tastefully decorated but not over the top. There were the basic amenities like towels and silverware. It lacked cooking supplies and extra blankets. Overall, the Airbnb is a house I would recommend booking.
